Introduction

The Department of Anatomic Pathology (Formerly Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology) provides vital diagnostic and research services to all the clinical and surgical departments including all the subspecialties available in the hospital. We analyze tissue and body fluid specimens to detect disease using light microscopy, histochemistry (specials) and Immunohistochemistry staining.

 The department is manned by well trained professionals comprising doctors, scientists, technicians and support staff who deploy their skills in providing good quality pathology services that ensure that patients get the right diagnoses and ultimately the right treatment. We are also accredited to provide training for clinical residency, internship and observership postings for laboratory scientists and technicians.

Hours of Duty

Routine services: 8am-8pm (Monday-Friday)

                                  9am-5pm (Weekends)

Autopsy and Mortuary services: 24 hours, 7 days of the week.

Structure of the Department

The department is superintended by the head of the department:

The Clinical Consultants provide diagnostic services and directly supervise training of clinical residents.

The technical supervisor (Deputy Director, Medical Laboratory Scientist) supervises the laboratory scientists, technicians and lab support staff.
