INTRODUCTION: The department of microbiology is saddled with the responsibility of providing reliable and standard medical microbiological laboratory services, and also to provide clinical services bordering on infection control, biosafety and other related services.

Daily routine hours of duty: 8a.m. – 4p.m. daily.

Calls and emergencies: 4p.m. – 8a.m. daily.

Tuesdays: 8a.m. – 2p.m.

                 HAART clinic

Thursdays: 8a.m. – 2p.m.

                   STI clinic

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The scope of responsibilities includes but not limited to:
    1. Providing reliable medical laboratory results pertaining to infectious diseases
    2. Running of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) clinic
    3. Running of HAART clinic
    4. Providing expert management regarding infectious diseases
    5. Management and control of infections of epidemic proportion
    6. Providing expertise regarding rational use of antibiotics

     

    CLINICAL SERVICES:
    1. Management of infectious diseases
    2. Management of STIs
    3. Management of HIV
    4. Providing expertise to other clinicians on the rational use of antibiotics
    5. Providing expertise to other clinicians on the management of infectious diseases
